There are a few markup tricks which are useful but which even some experienced MediaWiki users don't know. For instance, although it's well-known that four tildes will sign your name and give a time stamp, did you know that it's possible to omit your name or the timestamp?
This page is for any obscure but useful tricks. If you have one, feel free to add it in the appropriate section (create the section if need be).
In the table below, markup is used as a short form for [[markup]]. Also, don't forget that the entire markup you use will show as the link text unless you use a pipe (|) to change the text.

WARNING: Not reliable, use the markup below instead
|w:article||http://community.wikia.com/wiki/article||Article on Wikia Community Central|
|w:c:otherwiki:article||http://otherwiki.wikia.com/wiki/article||Article on another Wikia wiki|
This is reliable and thus the preferred method
Some things you type will get replaced when you save by the text they represent. For instance, tildes (~) are useful to automatically insert username or time stamp into a page.
